  • By. Brandi D. In all my life I have never met a more giving and generous group of guys. I am from the area in north Mississippi that was ravaged by the EF-5 tornado on April 27, 2011. Hundreds of people died, even more were injured and thousands are now without a home at all. The storm didn't just mess up their homes, but it completely wiped them off the face of the earth. My town has spent the last few weeks working day and night trying to get help, food and shelter for our neighbors who survived the storm. I didn't even know if I was going to be able to go to the show, but I did and I am so very glad I did. Read the rest of the review here I was allowed to go in during sound check and hear a few songs and all I could think was "Wow this is really happening." Once they were finished they came down to where me and some others were standing and greeted us. I have never met them before so I was a total ball of nerves. Gerard came up first and introduced himself and we chatted a minute. Then Ray, Mikey and Frank walked up. Feeling less intimidated I was able to say something besides "Hi my name is Brandi" haha. I told them about My Chemical Freak and then asked if it would be ok if I auctioned off the signed poster they had given me to raise money for the victims of the storm in MS. Well Ray called someone over and then told me they would love to give me a signed drum head to auction off to help us raise some money. I was totally not expecting it. They kept thanking me over and over for doing it, but they are the ones to be thanked. They do not realize how many victims will be helped by their generosity. I have loved My Chemical Romance and their music for 6 years. I knew the good things they have done from what I have read about them, but I now have an all new respect for them. They are so quick to help people in need and for that I am forever grateful. I was allowed a photo pass for the show and got to take some awesome pictures of them in front of the barricade for the first three songs. From the first words "Look alive sunshine..." the screams were deafening from the crowd behind me. When they started to sing "Na Na Na" I was sure the wooden floor of the Tabernacle was going to fall through! Standing still up front my entire body was moving up and down from the sheer force of the crowd jumping up and down in unison. MCR fans create an energy like no others. Gerard was true to form and lit up the room from behind the mic. When they started to play "Welcome to the Black Parade" it sounded as if they had let in 2000 more fans! The roar from the crowd rivaled the sound of a tornado! My favorite songs from the night were I'm Not Okay, Helena, Vampires Will Never Hurt You, Vampire Money, and the encore... Bulletproof Heart. My Chemical Romance is the best live band you will ever see. Thanks again to the guys for being so awesome to the people of Mississippi!
