this has to be my all-time fave MCR album. it means the world to me, and no one can take away the feeling i get when i listen to it. the first song Helena is what got me hooked on My Chem. so beautiful and so catchy. Give 'Em Hell Kid has got an aggressive tone. To The End is wicked, it's a pretty sweet beat to it. You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison is amazing. the lyrics and sound make you jump up and start rocking out. I'm Not Ok is very catchy, you'll be singing along to every word. Ghost Of You is beautiful and more slow with a harsh chorus. The Jetset Life Is Gonna Kill You is really different, it's got some really interesting beats and sounds to it. Interlude is short and sweet, very pretty. But it leaves you unarmed and unprepared for Thank You For The Venom, which blasts right in with some seriously intense guitar riffs. Hang 'Em High is such a wicked song. The beginning starts it off just right, and the chorus leaves you nodding your head to the beat. It's Not A Fashion Statement, It's A Deathwish is a really interesting song. starting out with some aggressive lyrics, it actually ends off real lovely. Cemetery Drive I find is a beautiful song. after listening to it a few times, you really see the beauty of it, but the song is pretty sweet. I Never Told You What I Do For A Living is a freaking amazing song, very aggressive and random actually, the lyrics point the gun right into your heart, it's pretty intense. This album is worth every penny, it's worth more than my life. There still hasn't been 1 song that I haven't liked by MCR. This band will save your life, just like they saved mine. :)
It is what made me love them. Will always be my favorite. There is an abstract that relates to so much of life. Exactly what I I think was meant or what happened. Don't care..... I luv it.
this album is the very reason i fell in love with my chem, 'nuff said.
best album of the CENTURY! this album literally saved me. if my whole house caught on fire, i would save my cd player and my Revenge album. REVENGE FOREVER! <3
So far it is hands down the best My Chem album. Helena really just launches into the album and is really quite an emotional song but doesn't have a winey sound. Instead it has a very amazing rock tone to it as rock is what I can best compare it to. Next up we have Give E'm Hell Kid which is fast paced and aggressive although very catchy and one that you feel you need to listen to over and over again.
To The End is a slightly darker toned song with a *scream it out loud* chorus and offers us all a very good reason to sing along during the concerts. In here Ray delivers a solo that is perfectly backed by Franks rythm. You Know What They Do TO Guys Like Us In Prision is an extremely cheeky and fun song. But very catchy like everything else on the album and is one of my personal favorites. Its kick ass chorus makes you want to jump up and down screaming with glee everytime. I'm saying that and I'm not a fangirl... I'm not even a girl! Back to my review though. I'm Not Okay isn't as catchy or as cheeky as Prison is but without a doubt is an accomplishment for MCR because it is that good. They will be playing it years from now and people will still love it because its just that good. An awesome intro and a solo that "again" makes you want to rock out to it. The Ghost of You can be the most emotional song depending on your opinion. Its still quite good with slow and sweet lyrics backed with a lovely melody, then a harsh and powerful chorus. One of the albums best songs. It crossfades into The Jetset Life Is Gonna Kill You which seems to ease into a sharp and aggressive song with masterful guitar work and choruses that are just plain awesome. This one slows down in the middle a bit before returning to its normal pace.
Interlude is a quiet song that keeps you totally unprepared for Thank You For The Venom which kicks down your door. Messes up your house and then leaves after setting it on fire. (All a metaphor. This song will not actually burn your house down) I'm just trying to find a way to describe how good it is. But Good isn't even a word close to describing it. As the rock songs go its the best. No arguments. No complaints. The guitar intro seems to seize your attention by the throat only to ease its grip a little at the first few words... before latching on tightly again and not letting go until the very last second. I will say that many of the other songs are great and awesome and amazing. But I'm not comparing them to this. Its kinda hard to compare Venom to anything because its so original and masterful. Ray Toro has created his brainchild.
Hang E'm High seems to be nothing special compared to everything else MCR has hit you with so far. Opening with a very western theme. Its still a great song but not as good as what came before or what comes after,
Its Not A Fashion Statement has an opening guitar that seems to borrow a few chords from Venom. And thats as similar as they get. Its a completely different song and another amazing piece of music. The first half is an agressive rant of hatred and the latter half turns lighter with a more peaceful message. The song ends with a return of the sharp guitar, Cemetary Drive is in my opinion the most emotional song. If you listen to the backing music you get to see its inner beauty and how great it really is. Truely amazing and one of MCRs best. Lastly we have I Never Told You What I Do For A Living which follows My Chemical Romances tradition of awesome closing tracks. This one has Guitar that seems to explode into your face and keep going with fast paced lyrics. The song lacks a chorus but a good substitute is made with the guitar taking on a brief tone reminisent of Demolition Lovers. Its end is beautiful and fades out slowly as if Ray decided to leave his Guitar on for a few extra seconds before stopping.
Can't even put into simple words.
When I try to explain this album to someone, there is no comparisons or genres I can link it to. The mixed theme and lyrics that throw you around and have you pumping for more are incredible. The album gives you a short breath and pushes you right back into your seat to enjoy more. All the catchy lyrics, pumping guitar rhythm, and epic drum blasts make the whole album take you on a fast ride and wild ride. And every song is different, whether it be a catchy solo, crazy lyrics, intense drum solos, or any other adjective that would describe a landmark album, it would fit well with My Chemical Romance
