Apocalypse: Part 8

(Seriously sorry I haven't posted this in awhile, but I've got more after this! :D )
Part 1: http://www.mychemicalromance.com/blog/zone-specter/apocalypse-part-1

Over the course of the next couple days…it seemed just like that, everybody was happy. I had Lynzie as always, Mikey and Em finally had each other, and Julian was doing great in our family…even though no one really knew he actually was a part of it, even our band was doing well.
We'd gotten Danny and Steve to build us a recording studio in Danny's basement, his mom didn't mind, she was actually excited we were doing something productive. She even asked if we wanted to use her old keyboard, she said Danny knew how to play it so he could help if we needed. Danny was pretty good on that thing, he'd come in big help in any future songs of ours that needed a keyboard. The hardest part about starting our band was finding a drummer. It took us awhile, but me and Ray managed to convince a regular at the music store to stop by and help us out a little. His name was Matt Pelisser, pretty awesome guy, and could really play drums. He helped us finish up our demo, and said he'd help out on the next album once we got the ball rolling on that one.
So now, two weeks after Mikey and Em started dating, I was a Lynzie's trying to come up with an idea for a new album.
"I want it to have so sorta connection in itself," I said, "You know, a concept almost."
"Not love straight out," Lynzie said shaking her head. "That's been done WAY too many times and it's not exactly what My Chemical Romance seems about," she said as she got up to get us both some coffee.
"I also want it to have a slight feel from the first one too, maybe the sound a bit, or, or maybe…I don't know," I sighed.
"We'll get it don't worry, besides, you just released the first one, I think it's safe to say you have all the time you need to come up with this next one," Lynzie smiled.
"Yeah, maybe I should bring the other guys into this too, see what they have to say," I said as she handed me some coffee.
"That sounds like a good idea," Lynzie said taking the seat next to me.
"What's a good idea?" Danny said coming up stairs from the basement, face and hands smeared in soot and oil.
"Coming up with ideas for the new album in a group," Lynzie said.
"That is a good idea," Danny smiled as he walked over to the sink.
"Wanna help?" I ask, "You are technically like a manager and keyboardist for the band."
"That and I loan out my basement to you guys," Danny laughs.
"True," I say.
"So what goes on in the mad lab?" Lynzie asks, like she always does for a joke.
"Your dad and I are actually almost done," Danny grins, getting a crazy look in his eye.
"With the time machine?" Lynzie asks sounding a little surprised…even I'm starting to get a little excited now.
"What's left to do?" I ask.
"We actually only have to put a few more pieces on it and it should be done," Danny says excitedly.
"Why'd you come back up here then if you're so close to being done?" Lynzie asked.
"We need to make the last parts, and Steve sent me up to tell you guys to stop by the Prado's Car Shop for scrap," he said heading back over to the basement door. "Oh, almost forgot," he say jogging back over to us, "Here's a list." With that he hands a small oil smudged piece of paper and takes off for the basement.
"Guess I could go and pick these up now," I say looking over the list. "Mikey's with Em and her dad at shop, I can get these when I go to pick him up."
"What's he do over there anyway?" Lynzie says resting her chin on her hand.
"Well when he's not making out and or talking with Em," I smirk, "He's usually picking up a thing or two from Mr. Prado about cars."
"Productive," Lynzie says.
"Yep, Em says he could be as good as her and her dad someday," I laugh.
"Maybe, that kid is pretty good at fixing up a car," Lynzie says.
"Who do you think keeps my piece a shit car running?" I say, "You have any idea how many times it's broken down? I'm lucky that most of the time it's when I'm dropping those kids off at school."
"Invest in a new car babe," Lynzie laughs as I start to get up.
"I'm getting there, might just buy a van," I say.
"A van?" she laughs.
"Yeah, gotta make room for the equipment for when we start booking gigs," I say.
"Have ya booked any yet?" Lynzie asks as I start to head out.
"No, gotta see where and when we can do it, which means we'll have to talk to Matt, and for parents' sakes make sure they're not on school nights for Frank and Mikey," I say.
"Well if you need I could cover bass for you guys," Lynzie said.
"That'd be great, but we'd still need someone covering Frank with rhythm guitar," I say.
"Maybe my dad could help with that," Lynzie calls after me.
I walk back to the kitchen, probably looking confused, "Your dad plays guitar?"
"Yeah, used to have a band with a guy called Jimmy," Lynzie said.
"Well that covers fill-ins," I grin, "Now I just gotta talk with Danny."
"Aren't you forgetting something?" Lynzie called after me.
I grin and run back to her in the kitchen. She smirks at me as I walk over and kiss the top of her head quickly. But she reaches her arm around the back of my neck and pulls me back to kiss me.
When she lets me go I laugh a bit, "Feisty are we?"
"You could say that," Lynzie giggles.
"I'll be back quick then," I smirk.
"You better," she says as I leave.
"Right," I say.
"Oh, by the way, I changed the name of the demo!" Lynzie shouts.
"What?" I call back.
"It's still the same, I just added 'You Brought Me Your Love'," she says peaking out from around the corner.
"I like it," I say.
"Good, 'cause I told Danny that's what he should label all the other copies," she grinned.
"You're very secretive you know that right?" I grin.
She shrugs and waves goodbye. I wave back as I shut the door and walk out to my car. I pull the list that Danny gave me outta my pocket and look it over again and hope Mikey, Em or her dad knows what the heck they've got written on this list.

"Wow, Steve needs a lot of parts for this one," Em says looking over the list with Mikey looking over her shoulder from their place sitting on top of an old junker car.
"Danny says they're almost done," I say.
"Really?!" they both say in excitement.
"Now that'd be something to see," Em smiles.
"You can come back if you want once I get these parts for them," I say nodding at the list.
"Papi! Can I go with the boys por favor?" Emily calls back into the shop where her dad's working on a tire replacement.
"Si mija, se bueno!" he calls over the sound of his machines.
"Gracias papi!" Em shouts as she hops off the car, "C'mon Mikey, lets find the parts!" she says taking his hand and pulling him off in a random direction.
I go after them and look around the scrap heaps to try and find them. Then I hear my name being called somewhere above and behind me. I turn around and see Mikey waving from atop one of the heaps.
"Here, catch!" he says tossing some metal things at me.
I catch it and set it next to me, when I look back up Mikey's gone. Another minute and I hear Em calling from on top of a heap to my left, she tosses me another piece and then disappears. Ten more minutes of this and they finally announce they found all the parts.
Mikey slides down and a metal sheet to the bottom of a heap and then turns around to catch Em as she comes down in a similar fashion. He kisses the top of her head before they both come over to help me pick of the scrap pieces. We carry them back over to my car and put them in the trunk, then we all climb into the car.
"Wait," Mikey says, "How many times have you started the car since it last stalled?"
"Ten times I think, why?" I say.
"Start it, I wanna see if I'm right," he says getting out of the car.
He walks to the front of the car and I raise and eyebrow at him.
"Just start the car," he laughs.
I try starting the car…it stalls.
"Damnit!" I yell hitting the steering wheel.
"Dang! I owe him now!" Em mutters from the back.
"What?" I ask.
"I made a bet with him the other day that every ten times you try to start your car it stalls, I said it stalls every twelve times," she explains.
"What did you bet?" I ask.
"You'll see," Em smirks.
I see Mikey motioning for me to pop the trunk so I do. It takes him all of thirty seconds to fix whatever it is before he's closing it and telling me to try again. This time I'm given the relieving sound of the old engine starting.
Mikey jogs back over to the door and I glance back through the review mirror.
Em leans out the window and grabs Mikey by the front of his shirt and pulls him in for a kiss. I quickly glance away and I hear Mikey get in.
"That's the last time I make a bet with you," Em laughs.
"Were Lynzie and I ever this much?" I ask.
"Worse on occasion," Mikey laughed.
"Alright then, you don't say anything and neither with I, got it?" I say as I pull out.
"Fine by me," Em says.
