Panthera Lea-Emily
"Hey, so I hear you're tired," I smile as I walk into the front dinning area.
Lynzie turns around in the booth to look at me and smiles, "Yea, a lil bit."
"C'mon, my uncle and his family lived here too so there's plenty of rooms upstairs that we're not using," I said waving her over.
"Really?" she asked pulling herself up.
"Yea, saved a bit on the bills and stuff," I laughed as we mounted the stairs.
"Cool," she chuckled. "Oh…"
I turned back and saw Lynzie just standing there, gripping the rail and looking down with a look of concern on her face as she placed her hand over her stomach.
"Are gonna be sick?" I whispered stepping down a bit so I was in front of her.
She just pursed her lips and nodded.
I quickly took her hand and pulled her up the stairs and took an immediate right. A little ways down a hall and I opened up a door right in front of me, pulling Lynzie into the room beyond it.
"Go, go, go!" I said frantically as I got her in front of me and down in front of the toilet.
And as she'd said, she got more morning sickness. I really hope this doesn't last much longer.
"Any better yet?" I asked looking away before I got sick too.
Her reply didn't come until after the next wave passed.
"I think I'm okay," Lynzie sniffled.
"I did radio for that doc back at the store," I mumbled. "I made sure no one was listening, said he'd come quick, and if he hasn't run into any trouble that means he could be here in another two days or so."
"You sure?" Lynzie huffed.
"Possibly sooner," I shrugged.
"Dear god let it be sooner," Lynzie grumbled. "Where's Gee?"
"Helping the others," I sighed, "Had to get the place cleaned up."
"How do you get rid of them?" she whispered.
"There's a bonfire pit out back," I said. "C'mon, I'll give you the room next door, it's Iri's, but I don't think she'll mind sharing with you when they all come back."
I heard the faintest laugh come from her then, and she had a small smile as she got up and followed after me.
"This one," I said pointing to a closed door as I passed it.
"Where're you going?" Lynzie called after me.
"Gonna go make sure everything got done," I lied.
"Em," Lynzie sighed.
I stopped, letting out a deep breath I turned back around at Lynzie's slightly irritated face.
"I have to talk to Alicia," I sighed.
"Make sure she understands," Lynzie yawned as she opened the door to Iris' room.
At least she got it. And hopefully I could make it clear to Alicia why I was doing this. She was a teenager, and knowing how I was and what I knew of my little cousin, she could have a bit of a temper at times. But she was a kid, we tried to let her have the most of her childhood despite how much of it was taken from her by BLI.
"Hey Emmy, we got everything done."
"Huh?" I looked up then and realized that Alicia was sitting on the counter while everyone else was just sitting about.
"The Dracs, they're all taken care of," Alicia said.
"Oh, good," I mumbled.
"You okay Em?" Alicia said hopping off the counter and looking concerned.
"I'm fine, Lynzie just got sick," I said.
"Again?" Alicia sighed.
"Yeah, but the doc radioed should be here in two days, maybe sooner," I smiled.
"Well that's a relief, Gee's been looking more worried everyday, I'm sure he'll be happy to hear Lynzie's gonna see the doctor soon," she smiled.
"Yeah, where is he anyway?" I asked as I took a quick scan over the room and realizing he wasn't there…and neither was Mikey.
"I think he's taking a breather outside with Mikey," Alicia shrugged.
Right.
"Hey, mind if I talk to you about something?"
"Sure, que pasa?" she grinned sitting up on the counter again.
"Privadamente," I mumbled, my accent coming through even with just one word.
She frowned, but followed me back upstairs and to the room we shared.
When she walked in she went strainght to her bed on the right side of the room and plopped down on it, looking at me expectantly.
"So, what'ya wanna talk to me about?" she said lightly, tucking her legs up underneath her.
"It's about you and Mikey," I sighed. "You need to…god how do I say this?"
"You don't want us to be together," she whispered.
My shocked face must've been some kind of invitation for her to go on.
"I get it, you don't want me to be like that with him because of what's happened to him and the others," she said with a small, sad smile.
"It's not just that," I sigh.
"You still like him?" she said sounding a little shocked herself now.
"No!" I shout. "Not like that, Jesus, Alicia I've gotten over all that."
"Then what?" she asked standing up and looking hurt. "Why don't you want me to be with I guy that I really like?"
"I just don't want to see you get hurt is all," I sighed.
"He doesn't like me does he?" she whispered as tears started to come to her eyes. "I'm so stupid!" she sobbed as she sat back down on the bed and burried her face in her hands.
"Oh Alicia I didn't mean it like that," I said moving to go sit next to her. "I'm not sure if he does or not, but if he didn't then it'd be his loss," I said as I hugged her close to me.
"Why? It's not like any guy could like a girl like me!" she sputtered out between her sobs.
"Any guy would be lucky to have a girl like you sweetie," I whispered. "You're smart, funny, beautiful, that and you're pretty handy when it comes to cars."
A choked sounding laugh came out of her, "Yeah, but that doesn't mean he'd like me like me."
"What does it matter if he doesn't Alicia? If he just likes you as a friend then I can promise you he'll be one of the best you have and that you'll find the right guy some day," I smile.
"Em, can I tell you something?" Alicia mumbles.
"Que?"
"I kinda started to like him before this," she mumbled sounding embarassed. "I guess I kinda fell for him from your stories about him."
"You always did love a good story," I laugh.
"I always loved your stories," Alicia laughed leaning on me.
"So you understand why I don't want you going for him just yet?" I whispered.
"Yeah, and I don't think it'd be great right now either with all the Dracs and my training and stuff," she mumbled.
I let out a deep sigh then, "That's the main reason why I'm telling you this."
"This is why you're the smart one," Alicia laughed.
"Yep, here wipe your face," I say rubbing away some of the tears on her cheeks.
She grins and rubs her eyes a bit, "Thanks Emmy."
"You're my lil cuz, and I'll always be there for you," I smile.
"I know," Alicia whispered.
"I'm gonna go get some food for everyone, you mind checking in on Lynzie?" I asked standing up.
"Sure, she's asleep right?" Alicia said bouncing up and returning to the usual bubbly girl everyone else saw.
"Yea, she's in Iri's room since it's the closest to the bathroom," I mutter.
"Right, well, you want me to ask her if she's hungry?" Alicia asked as we walked out into the hall.
"Nah, let her sleep, she's exhausted," I say heading down the stairs.
I take the steps pretty quickly and brake-check at the bottom before turning to the others.
"Alright, I'm gonna cook us something up to eat, you guys can entertain yourselves with the CDs under the counter here," I say knocking on the countertop before taking off for the kitchen.
I could here someone-probably Frank-bustling around and what sounded like them jumping the counter.
"Holy crap she's got more CDs here than the old music store!" Frank shouted.
"Just pick one and put it in the player," Danny laughed.
I shook my head as I pulled out pans and opened up the refrigerator that I somehow managed to keep running after all these years. Viewing over everything I had in here and I started to see I had
"How does homemade cheese pizza sound to you guys?" I called out.
"YES!" came the unison of their voices.
"Pizza it is," I chuckle to myself.
I pull out a bowl and some ingredients to get started on the crust-that's when I hear the yelling.
