Chapter Four: New Home

Zena followed Frank, Mikey and Ray to where Gerard was leading them. They walked through the ruins of the city to a tall building. It looked like an old hotel.
“This is where you’ll be staying, Zena.” Said Gerard looking back at her. She stepped forward to where Gerard was standing.
“What is this place?” she asked.
“This is a rundown hotel. It’s called ‘The Broken Dream’.”
“Nice name for a hotel…” Zena trailed off.
The others just stood there in silence, not moving or speaking.
“Let us show you to your new room.” Said Gerard, gesturing for her to step inside the hotel. He led her through the reception area and to an elevator, the place looked like it hadn’t been used in many, many years the place was covered in cobwebs and the walls were a dark shade of grey. They all got inside of the elevator. Gerard pressed the button with the number 10 on it and the elevator doors closed, ready to start ascending.
When the elevator finally came to a stop, the doors opened.
“Ladies first.” Said Ray, stretching out his hand and bowing his head.
Zena walked out and waited for the others to step out of the elevator.
“This way!” chimed Frank as he almost bounced with glee down the hall. Zena giggled and followed him to a black door with the number 714 on the front in grey. Frank pulled out a silver key and unlocked the door. The door swung open to reveal the hotel suite.
“This is where you’ll be living for now.” Said Mikey walking into the suite.
“For now?” repeated Zena in a confused voice.
“Yeah. If you decide to move on and go to heaven.” Said Ray simply.
“Oh…” said Zena. She stepped inside the hotel suite. ‘So this is my home, for now?’ she thought to herself.
The walls were light grey, there was a small kitchen, a living area with black suede couches, a large widescreen television, there was also a small hallway leading to the bed room and bathroom, Zena presumed.
“Nice.” She said.
“I’m glad you like it!” chimed Gerard. She turned to look at him. He looked her up and down.
“Uh…” Gerard started. “Maybe you should change into a new outfit. That hospital gown is covered in blood. There are new clothes in the closet in your room. I’ll show you.” He led her down the small hallway and to the door at the end. He opened it for her and she went inside.
“We’ll be waiting for you outside.” He said then closed the door to give Zena privacy.
She looked around her new bedroom.
All the walls were the same light grey but the wall to the left was a shade a dark red. Her bed had black covers with red trimming; there was a window on the far wall, it had the same dark red colour as her wall.
There was also a full-length mirror beside a large wardrobe. She walked up to it and looked at her reflection.
Her face looked slightly paler and her hair darker, she was dressed in a hospital gown, and like Gerard had said, it was covered in her blood. She thought about how her parents would be feeling now. The thought brought tears to her eyes. She shook the thought from her head and whipped the tears away and went to change her clothes.
She opened the wooden doors on her new wardrobe and rummaged through it. It was filled with clothes and accessories.
She settled for a black dress that stopped above the knee. The top part kind of looked like those jackets Gerard, Mikey, Ray, Frank and Bob were wearing. She found a pair of sheer black tights that had dark bands around it and a studded chocker.
After she was dresses, she went into the bathroom and brushed out her hair. Zena then took her hospital gown and took it with her into the kitchen, found the small bin in the corner and threw the gown in it.
Zena turned to walked to the living area where the boys had sat themselves of the couches.
“So what do you think?” asked Zena as she did a pirouette to show the boys her new outfit.
“Looks awesome!” said Ray and Frank in unison
“Nice outfit, Zena.” Said Mikey. Bob sat there quietly and nodded his head in approval.
“Beautiful.” Sang Gerard quietly. Everyone turned their gazes towards him. He looked at everyone with a confused expression. “What?”
Zena looked down at her feet and her cheeks flushed a bright rosy red. Gerard saw this and smiled slightly, as to not show anyone his expression.
Ray cleared his throat to get everybody’s attention.
“Zena, now that you have been welcomed to the Black Parade. We have to explain a few things.” Said Ray, looking at Zena seriously.
“Yeah. The first thing we need to tell you is…” Frank started, “Well, you know the first thing actually, but in case I made a wrong assumption I’m going to tell you anyway. You are dead.” He said simply.
Zena nodded her head. “Yeah, I knew that. But thanks anyways, Frank.” She said.
“The next thing we need to tell you is.” Mikey started, “Is that you need to meet Mother War, she’ll ask you whether you want to stay in the Black Parade or move on and go the Heaven.”
Zena continued to nod her head, taking all the information in. “Is that all?” she asked.
“Yes, that’s all. Tomorrow we will come by and take you to Mother War to see her.” Said Bob.
Zena was surprised to hear his voice. She thought he would sound gruff but he had a soft, gentle voice.
“Alright.” Said Ray, getting up. “I’m going back to ours. Anyone wanna come with?”
“Yeah, I’ll come with you.” Said Frank
“Me too.” Said Mikey and Bob in unison.
They all got up and left the hotel suit.
“We live on the floor above.” Said Gerard quietly, looking down at the floor. “Sit down, Zena. You could feel a bit withdrawn for a few days now that you’re dead.” He said, “You have to get used to being here, if you decide to stay that is.”
Zena suddenly felt very lightheaded. “Whoa.” She gasped, “You’re right.” Zena started to sway slightly. Gerard got up and caught her just before she hit the floor.
“Zena?” he whispered to her.
“Gerard. What’s happening to me?” she asked, weakly.
“It’s nothing; you’re just not used to being here yet. Now hush…” he quietened her and Zena slowly closed her eyes.
“Just sleep…” Sang Gerard and that was the last thing Zena heard before slipping into a deep sleep.
He carried Zena to her room, where her set her down on the double bed. He kissed her forehead lightly and left to join the other’s in their suite.
