Mission: Revenge. Part 6. NEW!!

“She made it?” I asked, jumping up to my feet.
Radio nodded, and as if reading my mind answered what my next question was going to be. “She’s over there.” She pointed to a girl, probably a year or two younger than me, sitting on a bench.
I started to walk over to her. She noticed me when I was just a few yards from her, and waved a little. I waved back, and walked quickly over to the bench, and sat down next to her.
“Flash Drive?” I asked hopefully.
She nodded.
“I’m Waterfall Bomb.”
Her eyes lit up, as she exclaimed, “Thank you!”, and threw her arms around me.
I hugged her back, and said, “You’re okay now. Come on, you’ve got to meet my team now.”
We both got up and she walked by my side as we went over the Suburban where everyone was sitting, watching us.
“Everyone, this is Flash Drive. Flash Drive this is everyone.” I introduced them. My team laughed, while Flash just looked a little scared.
“Hi, I’m Radio Star.” Radio properly introduced herself.
Acidic Venom, Beautiful Blood, and Electric Aftermath all followed in her footsteps, and introduced themselves.
“Thanks for letting me be part of your gang.” Flash Drive said when they were all finished.
“It’s what any killjoy should do for another.” I said. “Now down to business. Where are we going to go now? I was thinking maybe the south because it’s even more rural than here.”
“Oh no. The south is pretty much completely over run by Dracs. Trust me, I was there visiting family last summer.” Flash Drive warned us.
“Okay, that’s out then. Good job, Flash. You’re already proving to be a good addition to our team.”
“Thanks.”
“What if we go out west, to the charted zones like 6 or something?” Radio suggested.
“Yeah. I’m sure there’s plenty of Drac ass to kill too.” Venom added.
“We might even get to meet the Fabulous Killjoys if we’re lucky.” Flash pitched in.
“If that’s where you guys want to go, then I’m down with it. We leave in the morning. It’s going to be a long drive.” I said. “That means sleep. We’ll do the watches just like last night. Except me and Flash Drive will stay up together, while Blood and Electric stay up together.”
“Sounds good to me.” Radio said. Everyone else just kind of mumbled their agreements.
“Where are we sleeping?” Flash asked me shyly.
“In the car. Good thing you’re small, it won’t be very tight for you then.” I answered her.
We all settle into the car to sleep, and before I drifted off I heard Flash Drive whisper to me, “Good night.”
As always it was too short a time to be asleep when I was awoken to keep watch. I nudged Flash Drive a little until her eyes fluttered open, and motioned for her to follow me out of the car.
It was the dead of night by now, and the stars were glowing softly around the bright full moon.
“So...” Flash Drive began. “Thanks again. You really have no clue how much this means to me.”
“It’s really no bother. I did what any person should have done. Despite what Venom may have said.”
“Hmm?”
“Oh well, when we received your transmission I just acted without consulting anyone first. It comes naturally to me to help someone in need, so that’s what I did. At first she didn’t really like the idea, but when we teamed up with the others she just kind of accepted it.” I explained.
“Venom scares me a little.”
“I’ll admit she scares me a little too sometimes, but she’ll grow on you. You’ll probably find some common ground over the next few days. It will probably be a good four day drive to Zone 6.”
“That should be fun. Just six girls, in a car, driving across the country to hopefully meet some awesome people.”
“And not get killed in the process.” I added.
“Don’t remind me.”
“Sorry. It’s the truth though, and the truth hurts sometimes.”
“I know. Saying that doesn’t make it any better though.”
“Welcome to life.”
Flash Drive chuckled a little at that. It surprised me a little, because I’m so used to people just brushing off my dry humor.
“I’ve got a question for you. How did you get all the way here from Illinois by yourself?”
“Hitchhiking. I know, it’s cliche and dangerous.”
“It doesn’t matter now. All that matters is that you got here.”
We basically spent the remainder of watch together just talking. About everything that mattered, and more things that didn’t. It wasn’t until a half hour into Beautiful Blood’s and Electric Aftermath’s watch that we even realized we were free to sleep again.
They gave us both quizzical looks when we woke them for their watch late. In return I gave them a look that said not to question it, and they didn’t.
Back in the car next to Flash I drifted back to sleep soon enough. It wasn’t until the light of another sunrise that I woke up again.

To be continued....
Yes, It's true. I have finally got to posting new parts of Mission: Revenge. I hope you all like it.
