“Oh my God! I’m sorry.” Flash said kneeling next to me.
I pulled myself up into a sitting position with just one hand. I had my other hand covering my nose which was bleeding profusely. Soon enough all the guys were standing around me, Jet Star kneeled in front of me.
“Move your hand.” He told me. I did as he said, and let him see how bad it was. “It looks broken. Come on, let’s clean this.”
He stood up, and offered me his hand to help me up. With my non-bloody hand I got up with his help, and we walked inside the Diner. I sat down in a booth and Jet got a damp towel and started to gently wipe away the blood.
“That definitely broken.” He said when most of the blood was gone. He continued to clean off the rest, and then started to look at my nose closely.
“That’s why I didn’t want to fight you.” Flash started to cry. “I’m sorry.” She ran off into our bedroom.
I sighed. “Someone go get her for me please.” I asked, talking around Jet’s hand as he poked at my nose gently. I winced.
Kobra nodded, and went to go get Flash for me. A moment later he returned following her out with his hands on her shoulder so she didn’t run off again.
“Flash Drive.” I started. “It’s alright, I’ll be okay. I don’t hate you, I hate Party.” I said sarcastically.
She took me literally though and turned on Party. “Why did you make me do that?” She asked him, and she started to throw punches at him again.
“I was joking.” I said over the commotion so she would stop, and she did.
“You definitely weren’t fighting anyone other than Bomb, or you would be the one with a broken nose.” Party added.
“I’m sorry.” She apologized to me again.
“There’s nothing for you to be sorry about.” I told her. “Now, exactly how bad is it, Jet?” He’d been poking and prodding at my nose this whole time, and I’d winced several times.
He sat back in a booth, and sighed. “It’s pretty bad, but it’ll heal completely. Just take it easy for a few days.”
“Ugh.” I groaned. I hated not having anything really important to be doing.
“You should be happy. That means you don’t have to train.” Fun Ghoul told me.
“She could still practice her aim.” Party remarked sarcastically.
“Now what?” Flash asked.
“We’ve still got to go for our run.” Party told her.
Everyone groaned, except me. I knew I wasn’t going to be allowed to go on that run even if wanted to. Good thing I didn’t want to go.
“I’ll be here when you get back.” I smiled as they left for their run. Kobra was the only one to catch my grin, and he scowled at me in return. I chuckled a little. Maybe this wasn’t so bad after all.
With everyone gone I decided to take a look at my nose for myself. It still hurt like a son of a gun, but how bad could it look?
I went to the bathroom to get a look in the mirror.
“Fuck,” I mumbled to myself.
My nose was bright red, and starting to bruise and swell. It’d be completely black and blue in an hour tops. I knew that when it started to heal it’d turn all kinds of colors before it returned to its natural golden skin color.
“Just great.”
I left the bathroom, and went to sit at a booth until everyone came back.
The wait wasn’t too long to my surprise. It seemed to me that I’d just barely gotten my eyes closed when they all came back, rushing for coffee. I laughed at them, but they ignored me.
“I’m going to go play.” Flash said, and went to the music room next to Dr. D’s studio.
“How’s your face?” Fun asked me, sitting down with his coffee.
“It’s probably black and blue by now, swollen too. Isn’t it?” I asked.
He just nodded.
“You took a look in the mirror?” Jet asked.
Now it was my turn to nod.
It was silent for a couple moments, and right as Party opened his mouth to say something he was interrupted. From the back we heard Flash pounding out a tune on her kit.
It was a hard, fast rhythm. I loved it. Looking at everyone else's faces I could tell I wasn’t the only one.
We continued to mindlessly listen, and migrated ourselves closer and closer to the room she was playing in. All of us just sat on the floor, listening to the drum covers of so many different songs.
It must have been hours that we sat there listening. None of us stopped her until it was time for Dr. D to do his evening transmission.
He came out from his studio, and shouted above the noise. “Flash Drive! I’m about to do a transmission, keep it down!”
Immediately the music stopped, and she came walking out of the room.
“Um, what are you doing out here?” She asked, looking at us like we’d all grown a second head.
“You’re fucking awesome!” Fun Ghoul exclaimed, as we walked out to the booths to sit.
“You lied to us when you said you weren’t that good.” Jet Star commented.
“What do you mean?” She questioned.
“You told us that you weren’t that great of a drummer, and we beg to differ.” Party pointed out to her.
“Why?” She was still confused as to what we were telling her.
“I repeat: You are fucking awesome!” Fun said.
I laughed.
“Just take the compliments. Maybe you could play with us one time.” Party suggested.
“What would we play?”
“Any of our old songs. Possibly write some new ones.”
“After Dr. D’s transmission.” Kobra reminded them.
So, we slummed around a little, waiting for Dr. D’s transmission to end. All the guys and Flash talked about playing, and songs, and all kinds of things about music. I just sat and listened. My nose was starting to throb a little, and it was annoying.
At last the transmission ended, and we all went back to the music room. There was a single chair which I took while everyone set up their instruments, and microphones. It was only about ten minutes until everything was ready.
“Can I make a request?” I asked from my seat.
“Sure.” Party said.
“Headfirst for Halos.” That was by far my favorite song of all time by My Chemical Romance.
“Yeah,” Flash agreed with me. “That was the first song of yours that I ever learned.”
“You got it.” Party said, holding up three fingers and counting them down one at a time.
As he dropped his last finger the music started. I remembered the entire song in that moment. I don’t even know how long it had been since I’d heard it last, but it would always be one of my favorites.
They continue playing song after song. I’m pretty sure they played every single one of their songs. We were there for hours, and all of them were covered in sweat, well all of them except for Flash Drive. Somehow she managed to stay completely cool even though she played her drums quite violently.
To be continued...
Guys! This has nothing to do with anything, but I'm going to be in a parade! I've been in this same parade before, but it was years ago. I'm excited to be reliving my childhood! That is all. Hope you enjoy this latest installment of Mission: Revenge. Only five more left!
