Alex what have you gotten yourself into now? I thought as I shifted in my chair to look at Alicia. she was sleeping, curled up on the bed next to that boy Kyle. I looked at the clock and it read 2:30am. I sighed and stood up to stretch. Walking over to the window that was in the room, a tear fell from my eye but I quickly whipped it away. I don't cry. Deciding to walk around and see what there was to do, I pushed myself off the wall and walked to the door. my hand slowly reached for the door, turned the knob slightly and pulled the door open so I could walk outside the room. the walls were white but you couldn't tell because the hall were dark. I walked left because well........because I can. It was quiet in the halls so I guess everyone was asleep. they should be at 2:30 in the morning. I envy them that they can sleep. I never could. I don't know why. Mom and Dad took me to doctors, gave me medicine to try to fix it, showed me to the best sleep aid people in the world but nothing could fix it. its like I'm a vampire. My eyes traveled to a board on the wall that had a list of patients and their doctors on it.

then a name caught you eye that made your breath hitch in your throat

my eyes stared at the name, praying that I was seeing things. "Alex"
my feet moved on their own as I ran to find Room 219. I skidded to a stop when I reached my destination. the Lights were out and the window was covered by the blinds so I was given no other choice but to enter the room. as I opened the door, I saw my younger brother, Alex, living on a oxygen mask. his arms were in bandages and his face had cuts and bruises all over it. His eyes were shut, his chest rose and fell, rose and fell slowly. again my feet moved without command as I found myself standing next to his hospital bed stoking black hair out of his face. I smiled as I saw the lip ring and gauges. I moved more hair from his neck to discover a tattoo that read "Punx" in small black letters outlined in red. I sat down in a chair behind me, so I could stay with him. He left when we were little, I was never told why. I hated him for leaving me alone with Mom and her Abusive Boyfriend. I could never get out, I tried several times but was always brought back, to be met with a quick slap in the face by my mother. I would be sent to my room, where I would be greeted by Darik, and he would beat me until he was content with the blood on the floor. Still my heart twists when I think about it. The Pain, the agony, and tears that were shed in the middle of the night. "I hate you Alex but i love you at the same time." I whispered to him softly
the soft beating of the heart beat monitor was the only sound I heard. Beep Beep Beep Beep Beep. Before I knew it, I was singing a song that I used to sing Alex when he had nightmares as a kid.
