i got in trouble for accessorizing at school

sorry, just need to vent, even though this took place last friday.

okay, so it's kind of hard to make yourself stand out from the crowd at my school without looking like you're copying someone; so i decided to tie my bandanna (hot pink w/ skulls) to my belt loop. no one else had done it before. after three days of doing this, the assistant principal followed me from lunch to science yelling at me. it was kinda like: the bell rang, so i made my way to class, and the v.p. followed me, saying 'hey'. i didn't answer because 1) i don't get in trouble at school 2) i thought he was talking to someone else. then he followed me to my desk and he's like 'hey you' then to this one girl, 'what's her name?' and he made me take off my bandanna.
this of course was very confusing to me due to the fact that in the handbook it does say no bandannas (i checked after school), yet it also says girls can't wear clothes five sizes too small-which they get away with all the time without even a warning. (the handbook also says no promotion of drugs/chemicals...so does this mean i can't wear my mcr hoodie and tshirt? whatever.)
so now, how am i supposed to accessorize w/o looking like i'm copying someone???
