I wrote this song and you may find it a bit hard to understand at first but really, its not meaningless (as I have been told MANY TIMES) you just have to read it properly. Here we go then…
MASQUERADE
The cloak, swept behind
With a dagger, out of mind
And a tear rolls silently down
And hits, the cold dead ground
Smile, so sharp, it cuts across
The face, and makes bloody scars
As were perfect corners
That’s all now damaged
Eyes, like a porcelain doll.
From which tears silently fall,
Underneath the mask sewn on.
Shall we all go to the masquerade ball?
(Chorus)
~We’ll dance together now,
Stepping with the crowd,
We hide our faces
We won’t know tomorrow who we are.
We’ll dance together now,
Spinning round and round,
We stumble in the dark.
But we’ll never raise our masks. ~
Sculpted to fit, the face it’s made,
And then burned and smashed with a spade,
And with fears that follow you round,
Boxed to never make a sound.
Glassed, over and broken right down,
But calicoes and beautiful
And graceful Somehow.
Among fathers and boas and dresses and gowns,
Look closely and darkest secrets,
Will be found…
Shall we all go to the masquerade ball?
(Chorus)
~We’ll dance together now,
Stepping with the crowd,
We hide our faces
We won’t know tomorrow who we are.
We’ll dance together now,
Spinning round and round,
We stumble in the dark.
But we’ll never raise our masks. ~
Shall we dance?
Shall we fly?
Shall we scream?
Shall we cry?
We can do anything, our masks will hide us.
And the nightmares, will never find us…
(Chorus)
~We’ll dance together now,
Stepping with the crowd,
We hide our faces
We won’t know tomorrow who we are.
We’ll dance together now,
Spinning round and round,
We stumble in the dark.
But we’ll never raise our masks. ~
If you wish, if you wish, if you hope
Your mask will save you.
Until, the day to say…
