Gay Marriage

I wish England would get over this whole 'gay marriage vs civil partnership' thing and just go for gay marriage legislation. Marriage is no longer a purely religious thing - those married in civil services are still allowed to be 'married' and be 'husband and wife' and I simply believe that this should be allowed to those who just happen to be same-sex. The Church should not be allowed to have a say in this matter, if we do not force them to marry people - same-sex couples should be allowed civil services and be allowed to be 'married' and call themselves 'husband and husband' or 'wife and wife'. We already have civil partnerships, which are almost the same thing under a different name, so we just need to amend this error and allow them to be properly married in the eyes of the law and the community. It will in no way undermine the sanctity of marriage or the the Churches' positions on it. We should allow homosexual couples the same rights as heterosexual couples completely, rather than giving them the same rights in a second-class ceremony.
