So Long and Goodnight, Ch. 11

NOTE: Sorry to anyone who reads this fanfic, I know it's been a week since I posted a chapter, but I've been kinda busy with other stuff. So here's the next chapter...

We all gather around the screen, watching the words scroll down the screen. "My name is Neon Avenger. I don't have much time, so I'll keep this short. I live in the middle of Zone 5. Both my parents were killed aeons ago in the Battle of Utah. Used to have a little sister, too, went by the name of Garage Banned. Shiny lil' punk. Dusted by Dracs two weeks ago. Now it's just me. Still kickin' and breathin', but just barely. WE WILL FIND YOU, AVENGER.
KEEP RUNNING..." By the time the transmission is over, we're all speechless. I'm the first to snap out of the stupor, and a cold rage fills me. "Not if we find you first," I say. "Whataya mean, Krys?" Kat asks, looking more than a little concerned, knowing all too well my habit of getting into irreversible trouble. "I'm going to Zone 5, that's what I mean. I'll fly to stay out of the way of the Dracs, and as soon as I find this Neon Avenger, I'll bring him or her back here," I reply. "Krys, you know how light your bone structure is. How will you ever be able to LIFT them to bring them back here?" asks a concerned A.E. We started calling him that because 'Alteration Exploitation' is a mouthful. "I'm stronger than the average mutant. If I can fight a guy twice my size, I'm pretty sure I can pick a kid up and bring them here," I explain. Pretty soon, I'm up in the air, stretching my wings in the hot desert air. Fang and Maya offered to come with, but I said no. I spot a skinny, beat-up girl wondering around Zone 5. I land directly in front of her. "Neon Avenger, I pre- Hayley?" I ask, recognizing the face. "Holy... Au-" "Yeah. From high school. How'd you get here?" I ask. "Remember, my Sophomore year I moved to California. Except that it wasn't California we ended up in," she says, looking regretful. "I'm guessing Linsey was Garage Banned?" I say, remembering her adopted sister. They were all adopted, her, Linsey (who's a year older than me), Patrick (who's two years older than me, same age as Hayley), and Robert (who was a Junior/Senior when I was in sixth grade). She nods, tearing up at the memory. "Wait, didn't Cassie and Ryan and Riley like MCR, too? Shouldn't they be here? I mean, I know Ryan was into them, what with singing Helena on the bus, but didn't Riley and Cassie like them, too? And Michelle?" I ask, looking for all the help I can get. "Well, yeah, I think so. I still have their cell numbers," she says. "I hand her my phone. "Do your worst," I say.
