My Aunt said I'm cute like in a boy way...what the hell?

So I'm not trying to fish for compliements (even though it seems as if I am, I'm not) but I am really confused and kind of offended by what my Aunt had said to me. I was wearing normal clothes (skinny jeans, tee shirt etc) and we were sitting at the diner table and my appearence became 'topic of conversation' my Aunt said, "You know you're cute...in a boy-ish sort of way." What? That made no sense to me and I was offended...I mean I do have self-esteem issues and I like to try and be confident, but when someone I trust to tell me the truth says I remind her of a boy, it's kind of offending. I mean I have to deal with people calling me fat and ugly everyday and she really just put the icing on the cake...I don't really know how to take her comment whether I should be positive about it or not...well thanks for reading if you did.
