These Pigs Are After Me Chapter 19

“Poison can I talk to you?” I said as I walked out of the basement
Poison was sitting at a booth, not doing anything, just sitting there.
“Sure” he said motioning to the seat across from him
“Did Ghoul tell you his plan?” I sat down
“Yea. I was actually just thinking about it. I think it’ll work. We just have to make sure that we have every detail worked out.” He leaned forward “We don’t know anything right now; we need someone on the inside, or someone who can get in and out of a place fast without being noticed.” His question was obvious.
“I can do that.” I said
“Bullet, you do realize how dangerous this is right? If they catch you once, your dead. I don’t want that, and Ghoul will kill me if I let that happen.” Poisons voice was calm yet worried
“Poison I’ll be fine. I’ll take a walkie with me and my gun if things go wrong. I doubt there will be an issue.” I sat back and crossed my arms over my chest, feeling confident “So where am I breaking in?”
“Battery City first of all. We need to know the guard schedule for the checkpoint. After that we need to know every detail we can on BLI Headquarters.” He sat there staring at me, gaging my reaction
"Really? That's is?" My mind was racing
"Bullet please don’t sound so excited about this. It's not going to be easy. There's so much......"
"You worry too much. Chill out. I'll be fine, okay? I'll go to the checkpoint tonight." I got up and went back downstairs to talk to Ghoul.
When I had gone upstairs Ghoul had just passed out, D had put some sort of disinfectant into his shoulder wound. It made him pass out. I guess it was better than listening to him complain. Ghoul was curled up on his left side sound asleep. He looked so peaceful there, no pain, no sadness, nothing, just ghoul. I walked over to him and brushed his hair out of his face.
"hhhhhhhmmmm Izzy." I heard him mumble under his breath as his hand grabbed mine.
I stepped over him and laid down.
"What?" I mumbled back to him
“What did Geezy say?” he sounded like he was high, must be the painkillers
“Poison said that I get to act as you guys’ spy. I’m going up to the checkpoint tonight to monitor the guard schedule.” I said to him
Ghoul twisted his head toward me, a concerned look on his face.
“Tonight?” he said, his voice mimicking the look
“Yes tonight.” I stroked his hair “We need to get Grace back as soon as we can.”
“Hun no. You can’t.” he seemed like he was on the verge of tears.
“Oh Ghoul, I’ll be fine. I promise.” I wrapped my arms around his neck “I have to camp out there for two days or so, just so we really know how the guard schedule goes.” I mumbled
“I’m going with you.” Ghoul suddenly said.
“Hun your still hurt. You can’t even walk.” I said sitting up.
“I don’t care, I can walk enough to camp out with you. And you’re not going to stop me.” He laid his head back down, my argument defeated.
“Fine. I’ll be back in a few minutes and we’ll leave; I need to pack some stuff up.” I said getting up and walking upstairs.
“Bullet, hey.” Scream stopped me at the top of the stairs.
“What’s up Scream?” I said as I walked over to a small supply closet.
“Poison just told us what the plan is. You’re not really planning on breaking into the city to figure out their set up, are you?”
I pulled out a rolled up tent and some containers of food.
“Yea that’s the plan. And yes I am going to. I’m the fastest person here and I’m good at undercover things.” I walked outside to put the stuff in the car. “I used to get kicked out of my old school because of my tricks.” I smirked at her
“Really?”
“Yea. This one time I was able to get on the roof of the school and shoot off fireworks as school was starting one day”
“Anyone can do that really. All you need is a big enough ladder and some fireworks.” Scream almost looked disappointed
I got up close to her.
“The only way onto the roof was through a door in the principal’s office.” I grinned and walked back inside to get Ghoul, leaving Scream speechless behind me.
“Poison?!” I called walking toward the basement door.
“Ah!!” I yelled as the door swung open in my face
“Bullet??!!” Poison stepped out from behind it “Oh shit sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you.”
I took a breath to calm myself down.
“It’s okay. What were you doing down there?”
Poison lifted his hands to reveal two boxes; one with flairs and fire building equipment, the other with blankets.
“I figured some of this would come in handy. The guard station is close enough to here that if you get in any trouble you can shoot off one of these” he moved the hand with the flair box “ and we’ll be able to see it.”
“Oh. Thanks” I smiled at him
“I’ll go put this in the car, you go and get Ghoul.” He walked passed me and to the door.
“Ghoul come on we got to go before it gets dark.”
“Ok just help me up” he called from the cot
I chuckled and held my hands out for him to grab.
“Come on you big glob just get up” I said trying to pull him to his feet without hurting him
He finally made it to his feet and leaned against my shoulder. I helped him up the stairs and to the car, where everyone had gathered to see us off. Poison helped Ghoul into the car while I grabbed a few more things.
“Just be careful, ok?” Poison said as I shut the driver side door.
“I will. I promise we’ll be back in two days.” The car squealed to life
Me and Ghoul tore off down the road. After a few minutes we were three miles from the checkpoint. Any closer and BLI would know that we were up to something.
“Ghoul we have to walk from here. Are you sure you can make it?” I asked him
“Yea. I took a few of the painkillers that D had before we left. I can barely feel any pain.” He smiled back at me.
“Well then get your ass up and help me carry some things.” I got out of the car and walked to the trunk.
We didn’t have a lot of stuff. The biggest was the rolled up tent.
“Ghoul, go over to that tree and grab a big branch please.” I said pulling out one of the blankets
Ghoul returned with a decent sized branch and handed it to me. I dumped out the two boxes onto the blanket I had taken out and unfolded and put all of the food onto it as well. I wrapped all of it up and tied it to the branch.
“You’re gonna carry all that?” Ghoul asked me
“Yup and you’re gonna carry the tent. Let’s go” I shut the trunk and started walking in the direction of the checkpoint
“Babe are you sure we should put the tent up? I mean we’ll be right next to the checkpoint so wont the guards see it?” Ghoul asked a few minutes later
“D said it was some type of camo tent. Unless they walk right up to it we shouldn’t be seen.” I responded, trying to ignore the pain that carrying everything was causing in my shoulder
Ghoul fell silent, picking up on my growing agitation. Two hours later we had made it to the checkpoint.
