Gerard was sitting at the ship's main controls, making sure everything was in check. At the rate they were going they would be in Pandora in three days. He sighed and turned and watched out the ship's windows. Everything was black, and the stars were like white diamonds surrounding the entire ship. He smiled as he turned on the radio, playing some Iron Maiden. Suddenly, a girl with long red hair walked in. She was wearing a black leather jacket and ripped jeans. Her hair was partially pulled back and her face had marks on it that looked like bits of ingredients from making tonight's supper.
“Hey sexy.” She said, walking in and giving him a kiss while sitting on his lap.
“Heya back.” He said, smiling and kissing her. Then he pulled away. “You burned the dinner, didn't you?”
“I'm insulted! I'm an excellent cook!” she gasped.
“Kira, I know when you're lying.” Gerard laughed, lifting a finger to her chin, and then slowly pulled her in for a long kiss.
“Am I seeing the married couple slacking AGAIN on the job?” A voice said. Gerard and Kira pulled apart quickly to see a brunette man standing over them with crossed arms. He adjusted his glasses and shook his head.
“Am I seeing my younger brother bossing me around again?” Gerard countered.
“I am the captain of this ship, I may remind you.” the man said.
“Oh, Mikey, please. Go flirt with someone else. We don't want incest here.” Kira said, teasingly.
“Shut up, Kira.” Mikey said, rolling his eyes. “Did you finish supper yet? I'm starving.” Kira blushed and got off Gerard's lap, walking out quickly.
“She burnt it again?” Mikey guessed.
“Ah, my wife is beautiful, but she can be forgetful when it comes to cooking. When she remembers her cooking is heaven, though.”
“Mmmmhmm she's not distracted only when you're around, it seems. Wonder where her mind goes off to when you're not.” Mikey said, winking. Gerard grunted and went back to work at the controls.
Mikey laughed and pushed Gerard's shoulder before walking away, saying, “Don't forget, you're making sure everyone has plenty to drink before your wife's supper. We don't want the entire crew gagging at the table.
Gerard rolled his eyes. Mikey walked over past the kitchens where Ray was trying to save what was left of dinner.
“I didn't know our medic could cook.” Mikey said, snarkily.
“Without me you guys would be eating slop every day.” Ray said, moodily.
“Hey! I helped!” said a girl who came out from behind Ray's tall figure. She had curly brown hair to match Ray's. She was much shorter than him, though. She giggled and tried to wash all of the motor oil and mud stains off of her face. It was still a little stained, though, as she scrubbed.
“Mary, how did you get so dirty?” Mikey asked.
“The engine gave me a kiss.” She said, laughing. Ray laughed too.
“Nothing's wrong with the engine, is there?” Mikey asked, worried.
“No! No! I was kidding. Come on, Mikey. Get a joke or two.” Mary said, laughing. Ray laughed too, making sure his soup didn't boil over. Mikey nodded and then went to Frank's room. Frank was polishing his favorite gun, an AK-47 with good in-lay.
“How you doin there, Frank?” Mikey asked.
“As good as I can on this ship.” Frank said, slapping his rag against the metal pole of his bed. Mikey nodded.
“I know you weren't expecting to see the stars in a rogue ship, but I'm glad you came.” He said.
“Whatever, Captain.” Frank said, then he looked up and winked. Mikey laughed and started back for his room to pick up a map when he ran into two giggling girls, whispering as always.
“Rheloh, Sky!” Mikey scolded. The two girls stopped. One had dark black hair with blue streaks and the other was a beach blond that was almost white. They both had smooth porcelain faces and large eyes. The blond smiled and kept walking, but the black haired girl stayed.
“Sky why are you and your sister wandering around the ship?” Mikey asked.
“We're just trying to have some fun. Is that a problem, Captian?” Sky asked, a smile playing at the edge of her mouth.
“Just because I allow you companions on our ship, doesn't mean that I want you to flirt with the members of our crew. You know that's against the rules.” Mikey said. Sky laughed.
“Please, there's no one here worth flirting with.” She said. Mikey smiled, though disappointment played at the corners of his eyes.
“Good. I don't want any fooling on my ship.” He said. She nodded and went to follow her sister. The star-ship Symphony was everyone's home, workplace, and social life, and the man who ran it, Mikey Way, was the greatest leader of them all.
