Battle Scars :Repost:

Hey Beautiful killjoys, just sort I'd share something with you:
Here is a website, that is doing some projects to help stop different self harming:

http://braceletproject.tumblr.com/

There's links on the website for each project and links to have bracelets made for you, or temporary butterfly tattoos sent out to you.

Here are the four projects:

The Butterfly Project

The Rules are:

1. When you feel like you want to cut, take a marker, pen, or sharpies and draw a butterfly on your arm or hand.
2. Name the butterfly after a loved one, or someone that really wants you to get better.

3. You must let the butterfly fade naturally. NO scrubbing it off.
4. If you cut before the butterfly is gone, you’ve killed it. If you dont cut, it lives.
5. If you have more than one butterfly, cutting kills all of them.
6. Another person may draw them on you. These butterflies are extra special. Take good care of them.
7. Even if you don’t cut, feel free to draw a butterfly anyways, to show your support. If you do this, name it after someone you know that cuts or is suffering right now, and tell them. It could help.

Glitter Jar/Calm Jar Project
Calm jars are used differently by everyone who makes them, most use them as a way to calm down, hence the name! Anytime you feel anxious or stressed, give the jar a shake and just watch as the glitter floats down and try to focus on being calm. For others, it can be a way to shake out frustration. Anytime you feel mad instead of doing something destructive, just shake the jar!

How to make a calm jar:

Step 1: Fill the jar with water! You want to fill it almost to the top, the kind of water doesn’t matter!

Step 2: Pour your glitter into the jar! You can use as much or as little glitter as you want!

Step 3: SHAKE!

The Paper Chain Project
What’s the paper chain project?

The rules are:

1. For every day you go without self harming or purging, add a colorful link to the paper chain

2. If you relapse, just add a white link to to the chain and carry on the chain without any disruption

3. Over time the paper chain will grow in length

4. And you can see your progress, and see that even if you do relapse, the are still days you go without hurting yourself. The colorful links.

5. Over time and through your recovery watch the amount of colored links begin to increase, and the amount of white links begin to decrease.

6. If you feel like hurting yourself, look at the paper chain and realize just how far you’ve made it, and realize that if you’ve resisted before you can do it again :)

The Project:

Each disorder has a color that corresponds to it.

Schizophrenia is gold

Bipolar/mood disorders is silver

Anorexia is red.

Bulimia is purple.

EDNOS is pink.

Depression is blue.

Self harm is orange or black.

Fasting at the time is green.

Suicidal is yellow.

Overweight/obese is turquoise.

Anxiety/panic disorders/OCD is teal.

Adding 1 white bead means you’re trying to recover. If your bracelet is half of the color that your disorder is and half white it means you’re in recovery. You can also make the strand the main disorder you have then add beads to your lesser disorders, or if you have EDNOS, if you have more anorexic or bulimic tendencies then you can add a red or purple bead.

If you see a person in public wearing one, you are supposed to make eye contact and point to your bracelet. If s/he nods then you know s/he is part of the bracelet project.
