I can't bear to watch the shows this year.
9/11/2001 I was:
Twelve years old.
Sitting in my 7th grade, 7th period intermediate speech class, listening to our principal announce that "This morning in New York City, the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center were attacked by terrorists and collapsed". I was picked up, told my mom and immediately went to the TV-which was already on when we got home. I saw them fall and cried- just cried. I fell asleep asking the same question as everyone else:
WHY?
That week's h.s. football game- the marching bands each played a song in honor of the dead and missing, handing out little flags as everyone entered the stadium. I still have mine to this day.
I still asked: WHY?
September 12:
Wished my brother a happy birthday saying "This is a wonderful birthday for you this year, isn't it?" Saw 3/4 of my language arts class use the shot of the planes exploding into the Towers for our "A Pictures' Worth a Thousand Words" assignment. I used a monarch butterfly picture.

Still asking the question: WHY?
