Writing advice? Main character late for something, how strongly should he curse?

See, he originally says, 'Shit, shit, fucking shit!' But is that a bit strong for a first page? And my parents can't read it if I put that in....I changed it to, 'Hell, hell, fu-" before breaking it off, but I'm not sure if that sounds stupid or not....main character is called Gerard, btw!
