Heels Vs Sneakers

I feel weird posting this but I just need to hear your (anyone's) opinion on this. Well, I'm having my Junior Prom in a couple of weeks and I'm all set for everything.... except my footwear. Lawl. I actually bought before but I was presented with a few problems:
1) my gown is black and those heels are black too, plus my hair is, you guessed it, black. I feel too black. Haha.
2) They're too high (5 inches to be exact) and
2.a) They're totally uncomfortable. Imagine, I'll be wearing them for more than 6 hours. I feel sorry for my feet.
2.b) I'll be about an inch taller than my date which I'm totally fine with but it won't look as appealing in the photos. Haha.
2.c) My gown won't reach the floor anymore. I've tried the dress with the shoes and the end only reaches until a few centimeters below my ankle.

Therefore, I have concluded that I must not wear them. Now I'm contemplating whether I should buy new heels or wear a pair of good-old sneakers instead.

If I do wear sneakers, it will be a lot more comfortable than heels and I wouldn't have to worry about the height issue. Plus, I wouldn't have to spend a dime on buying new shoes. The problem though is if it will be visible once I'm mobile. My dress is black and floor-length though.

I've asked around and they've told me that prom wouldn't be complete without heels. Majority of the people I know are wearing heels at least 3 inches in height.

I've never actually worried about things like these. You know, shoes, clothes and just fashion in general but I'd like to make this as an exception. We don't often have formal dances like these in our school so prom is a huge deal. They also say that prom is one of the most memorable experiences in your High School life. With that in mind, I just really want to make this night special and perfect.

To whoever's reading this, you are awesome and very kind to take time and read about my "issue". I'd really like to hear what you think about my situation :)
