I totally agree with the posts regarding 'emo' that have been going on; how twisted the whole thing's gotten. There's the music related meaning of emo - which I've always thought is a bit of an odd title, cus if a song isn't emotional, it might as well be an advert jingle (I got that quote from somewhere...), then there's the fashion, which is cool, but I prefer real gothic-ness much more ;) but THEN, there is the twisted realisation of it, that TOO MANY people seem to a) think emo IS, and b) support those people who think it is by going ahead and acting like it! Wth? Making dramas out of every little thing, and refusing any help for anything from anywhere, though making sure every poor person around them knows aaaaaaaall about how 'terrible' their life is (waahwaahwaah...) and PURPOSFULLY making their lives horrible JUST in order to complain about it. THAT is what 'emo' is turning into. Makes me sick. Idiots.

And as a quote, I posted this in my last blog too -
Pleeeeeaase do note the difference between being depressed, and depression. The former is feeling sad, the later is a very serious disease. These two should never be confused, or abused. Emo-ing (as in, the twisted version of it) for emo-ing’s sake makes people suffering from actual depression look stupid. Just... don’t.

*takes a slow calming breath* I love being able to get this stuff off my chest over here.

Anyway, I'll post about something that isn't a rant next time, I'm sure :P

Yes! Exactly, Ida_t !! I have my Depression under control so I am lucky now, but I remember it at its worst and there were many who didn't understand that it isn't like having a "bad day" and you can't just "get over it". I heard that so much that I started to think that maybe the way I was feeling was my fault.

yeah, I kind of agree with you =) and emo have diffrent meanings, but what I don't like is all the haters that are out there (you don't sound like a hater to me) that hate everyone that dresses "emo" cause it like a lot of people seems to think that just cause you're wearing black you're emo... wich can be a bit disturbing....
and the same about being depressed and depression... cause I usually says that I am depressed, but I constantly have to explain that I do suffer from depression, and not just that I'm sad.... geuss I should say that I'm suffering from depression to let people to know what I mean from the start =) and yeah, that's a thing I hate, when people that pretend to have depressions or so just to get attention, cause it makes ot harder for people like me with real problems to actually be trusted....
and to GrimmCild, I agree with you =) I even got the "stop being so damn emo" comment on a blog I posted earlier, and got told that I just needed to start to think more positive, and that's really not so easy for someone with depression, wich it sounds like you know =) and I definatley don't think it's cool to have been diagnosed with depression, and can't really understand those people that seems to want to be depressed or bipolar or something.... cause as you say... it is soul-crushing =/
okay, end of my comment ;P
xo

Hey, we are the MCRmy and this is OUR place to share our thoughts on a variety of topics. You don't sound like a hater to me! When it come to classifying people based on music, clothing and views/attitudes, then it will be a hot topic (no pun intended there) of discussion.

Because the people who share similar ways of dressing, behaving, or how they spend their time get lumped into one group, then there is bound to be the unfortunate side effect of mislabeling by others who aren't informed. I am Canadian, but I don't live in an igloo, own a sled with a team of sled-dogs and I am bored by hockey. Just like every American isn't rude, gun loving and uneducated. A few bad apples make the rest look bad. : /

You are totally correct about the difference between depression, and being depressed. I recently got ripped to shreds by someone on Twitter (cue the eye rolling) because I made the mistake of telling him that "Manic Depression" is an older term that most psychiatrists have dropped in favour of "Bipolar". This guy went ape-shit bananas on me. He declared he was a Manic Depressive and how dare I tell him he wasn't!

For Fuck's sake, don't diagnose yourself and wear it like a medal of honor as if it is a wonderful accomplishment. Of course, don't be ashamed, but it really makes me upset when people almost brag about their various mental illnesses they may or may not have. Either way, Depression, Bipolar and many others can be soul-crushing and they put a huge strain on the individual, their friends and family. It isn't "cool" to "earn" a diagnosis.
You are so right. Many legitimately depressed people are being told, to "stop being such an emo" as if it was just an act for attention.

I think I just rambled and I hope at least some of it made sense! xD
