The record was released a few weeks after Stephanie had left, and some people liked it but I once again found it hard to believe that it had actually been released. Every morning I woke and Gerard had to inform me of what had happened I was surprised but then continued each day as if it was normal, and it took three weeks for me to finally come to terms of the album being released. The album only started to get popular after a few months after it had been released. I started to think that it was never going to be popular and I thought that I was never going to be able to perform in front of a crowd. “So, does this always happen?” I asked Gerard one night as we were eating dinner with the guys. “It depends, because it is your first album not many people know who you are so it will take a while for people to hear about it.” Gerard said in a comforting voice. I played with the food on my plate because I was bored; I wanted at least one person to know that I was around. The dinner was just vegetables that we had defrosted and cooked, we couldn’t think of anything better to cook. I mushed the pea with my fork until my plate was covered with a thin bright green paste. “I know that it isn’t the best food in the world but can’t you pretend to enjoy it.” Frank said with a smile on his face. I pushed my plate forward and crossed my arms “no I am not going to enjoy it, this food isn’t eatable.” I jokingly turned my head away in disgust. “She’s right my vegetables are still frozen inside. I guess we are just too tired to cook properly.” Ray said as he tried to cut into his vegetables with a butter knife. I laughed to myself because of Ray’s struggle, but I tried to hide my giggly behind my long golden brown hair. I looked up and noticed that Ray was looking at me “sorry I didn’t mean to laugh.” I said stupidly.
“It’s fine. Hey guy this food is disgusting let’s just order pizza.” Ray said.
“Really, you want pizza again, we’ve had it every night for the past week.” Mikey said.
“Do you really want to eat frozen vegetables?” Ray questioned Mikey.
“I’ll call the shop.” Mikey said as quickly he got up and walked over to the phone and dialled the numbers. And within an hour we had eatable food.
The night was long and I went to bed early, but I found myself unable to sleep. I grabbed my laptop from the nightstand draw. I logged in and did a Google search on myself. Lately I had been doing this every night hoping that someone would write about me and my music. I waited for the computer to load, it took forever at this time of night. Suddenly as the page loaded I found a new link other than my website and the information about my album. I had been looking every night for a new link and now tonight there was one. I quickly clicked on it and once again waited for it to load it was taking too long. Feeling frustrated I hit the refresh button over and over again. I stared at the screen and all of a sudden it loaded. The website had a bad background and all the writing was in a basic font but that didn’t matter to me. The title of the website was “Dreamer’s Fan Club”. I scrolled the page and in awe stared at all the comments on the page. There was a bio about me, a photo gallery, and reviews on my music and they were all good. I was surprised to see that there was already 246 members. I spent the past two hours reading every bit of information on the website. “I’m sorry that the website looked a bit pain, I’ve been in a rush to put it up but within a few days this website will be as amazing as Dreamer’s music.” I read from the top corner of the website. I started to read members profiles when Gerard came in. “Honey, do you have to do this every night? You need to sleep and stop worrying about whether people like you or not.” He climbed onto the bed and pulled the laptop out of my grip. He looked at the screen and then sat down beside me on the bed. He began to read the website. Once he had read enough he put the laptop on the nightstand. “You have a fan club.” He said with a smile on his face.
“It needs a bit of work.” I said in a plain voice.
“That doesn’t matter you have fans, people know who you are.” He kissed me and then his smile grow even bigger. “ I have something to tell you.”
“What is it?” I was so interested in what he was longing to say.
“We’re going to Australia, you and I are going to Australia to see your mum and dog. I called her yesterday and she’s getting your old bedroom really for when we come. It’s only going to be for a few weeks but when we get back the guys and I have to get back into the recording studio so we can record the next album. But once the album is finished the guys and I decided that you can tour with us and be your opening act. This way your fans can come and see you and my fans can see you and maybe you will get some more fans.” I looked at him is shock and in complete bliss. I couldn’t say anything so I just kissed him. I looked over to the computer and then looked at Gerard again. “Do you want to read through the website with me?” I said as I grabbed the laptop again.
“Sure.” We snuggled up together and read through all 246 members’ profiles.
Gerard fell asleep first but I continued to read through the website. It started to wonder who the author of the website was, they knew a lot about me. They knew information about me that wasn’t even on my website. I finally found the link to the author’s profile page and I started to read. “Dreamer is one of the best performers and her music is amazing.” I continued to read on and I was flattered about her opinion on my music. “I have known her for quite some time and we are old friends.” I started to get confused, who was this person. I started to looked at their photos to see if I would recognise then and I did. A clear picture of Stephanie was in her photo gallery, including a bunch of pictures of her and I. I gasped in surprise. I turned off the computer and lied down next to Gerard and started to think hard. Stephanie had started a fan website for me, I was so confused. Why would she do this? She had lied to me and had tried to get me back into the band. Why on Earth would she do this? Maybe she was sorry. I fell asleep while I was tossing the thought of Stephanie being sorry over and over again through my mind.
I woke up with Gerard’s arms around me. He was awake and I stared into his eyes. “So what time did you go to sleep last night?” Gerard said as he kissed me good morning.
“I don’t know, but you went to sleep before me. You will never guess who made that website.” I told Gerard.
“Who?” he said with a smile on his.
“Stephanie. When are we going to Australia, I don’t know how much more I can take here, I need a break.”
“We can leave tonight if you would like, but why do you need to leave so badly?”
“I just don’t want to think about everything anymore. Just for a little while, I need to forget about everything.” Gerard tilted his head at me and looked at me with concerned eyes. “Don’t give me that look, I just made a break.”
“Okay, I’ll just go call the airport, you pack your things.” He walked out of the room and I leaped out of the bed and ran across to the room Stephanie and I use to share. I throw everything I thought I would need into my suit case and that was when I realise Stephanie’s things were still here, she had never come back for then and I was surprised I had never noticed had. But I was in too much of a rush to do anything about it. Once I got back from Australia maybe I would be able to cope with all of this but not now. I needed to see my mum, it had been almost four years since I had last seen her last.
Gerard continued to tell me that running away from everything wasn’t the right thing to do but I knew he could tell that I didn’t have another opinion. During the plane ride he just held my hand and told me that all he wanted to do was make me happy but I wasn’t sure of how he could do that anymore. I had known for so long that something bad was going to happen and I thought that was Stephanie betraying me but maybe I was wrong maybe Gerard and I had run our course. I felt like crying as I thought about Gerard and I breaking up but I wasn’t good for him. I was all dark and depressing and he was a ball of light and I was dimming him. I couldn’t possibly but right for Gerard, maybe once me landed in Australia I should just stay there. I turned to Gerard and noticed that he was asleep again, he looked so peaceful and I didn’t want to ruin his life anymore. Wow, I really needed to talk to my mum she always knew the right things to say to me.
As soon as I saw my mum at the airport I ran up to her and I hugged her tightly. “I missed you so much mummy.” I said loudly over the sounds of the airport. “I missed you to Hun and this dashing young man must be Gerard.” My mum released me and turned to Gerard. Gerard offered his hand for her to shake, “it’s lovely to meet you.” He said with a smile on this face. Mum looked at the hand in front of her and then wrapped her hands around his. “Forget the hand shake, you’re dating my little angel we’re family.” My mum squeezed him tightly and he started to turn blue. “Mum… Mummy, please let go of him you’re cutting off his circulation.” I said with a half concerned and amused voice. Mum finally let go of Gerard and it took him a while to catch his breath again. “I’m sorry Gerard you must think I’m crazy. It’s just Dreamer well…” she turned to me and I know exactly what she was going to say. “Dreamer has never had a proper boyfriend before, well there was Max but that only lasted a day or two. You’re the first guy she has ever managed to keep.” Gerard turned to me and then realised that he was my second boyfriend I smiled back at him but I felt so embarrassed. “Mum, please not.” I pleaded but she didn’t seem to notice.
“And her only friend here is her dog, Symphony and me of course.” My mum laughed and Gerard smiled and nodded at her.
“Mummy can we go home now, I want to see Symphony.” I said with hope in my voice.
“Yes, of course. She sleeps in your bed every night hoping that you will come home. Gerard you are going to love Symphony but you might have some trouble trying to have a private moment with Symphony around.”
It took a short time for us to get home from the airport and we drove into the driveway which brought back memories. I opened the door to the car and stepped out of the car and breathed in the fresh Australian air. I looked at the house which hadn’t changed since I had left. The wooden fence was a dark oak colour it was covered with a layer of varnish which had gradually started to peel in time. The front garden was covered with brightly coloured flower which my mum and I had planted together. Against a wall of the house in the garden was a wooden bench. This was the place my mum, Symphony and I use to sit as we watched the sun move across the sky. The driveway was paved with shiny dark brown paving stones. The house its self was brick which had been paint in multiple different colour like red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, pink, white, back and so on. We had spent six month painting the house when I was 4. There was only one part of the outside of the house that wasn’t painted rainbow. It was that front porch of the house which was all painted black. The house had windows everywhere.
We stepped up onto the porch and I looked around again. The porch was like a room but it only had two walls one with the front door and the other had a window which took up the whole wall. I walked over to the door and I stopped as I saw what was beside the door. “Are you alright angel?” my mum asked me with concern in her voice. I continued to stare at what was on the wall beside the door. “Mum you kept then there?” I turned to look at her.
“Of course I did, we worked hard on that.” Mum came up to me and hugged me from behind. I looked back at the hand prints on the wall. There was a Yellow hand with Mummy written underneath it, and below that was a pink hand with Dreamer underneath it and then there was a lime green dog pour with Symphony under it. It was hard to hold Symphony up to put her pour print in the right spot. We had done that the day before I left for America. “You know Gerard we might have to get you to add your hand print before you leave.” My mum smiled at me also if she knew something I didn’t. Gerard smiled at me but not in the same way. Mum grabbed her keys out of her pocket and unlocked the door and all of a sudden a fluffy white object excitedly jumped up to my knees. The loud yapping of Symphony rang in my ears and I picked her up and held her in my arms. Symphony licked my face, “hi girl, how are you?” I said as Symphony barked in return. “So this is Symphony?” Gerard said as he petted her on the head.
“Yep, this is her.” I said smiling at him.
It didn’t take long for Gerard and me to unpack. My room was the same way I had left it. The walls were pink but they were covered by dark posters of bands and random pictures I had drawn. Everything on the walls were stuck to the walls by blue-tack . There was only one thing in a frame on the walls which was a large photo of Mummy, Symphony and me. My wardrobe was black and stayed in the corner of my room. I had painted it black and I had also painted a flower pattern on it with gold paint. My bed and nightstand were both white and I liked them because they didn’t match the room. The bed was a double and I was glad because a single wouldn’t have enough room for both Gerard and I. I looked around my old room and felt safe but I still needed to decide whether I was right for Gerard or not, it’s not right for me to hold him back. I was loving being back home in Australia maybe I should stay but I still loved Gerard.
