Chapter 2

Skate and Static were out in the front of the house. Static got out his ray gun and pointed it at some targets that they set up earlier. He pulled the trigger, and the laser beam hit the bull's-eye.
"How did you do that?" Skate asked in awe.
"Practice," Static said. "Now you try it."
Skate pointed her gun at one of the targets. She pulled the trigger, and completely missed what she was aiming for.
"Dammit!" Skate exclaimed, frustrated.
"You'll get the hang of it. You just need to know your gun works and how to handle it." Static said.
"But you make it make seem so easy!"
"That's because I've been doing it longer than you have."
"Yeah, but...."
"It's okay. You'll get the hang of it. Now try again and hold it more like this." Static adjusted Skate's hand so she held it right. "Okay. Try it now."
Skate aimed and fired. The laser beam skimmed the top of the target.
"So close! I'm never gonna get this!" Skate exclaimed.
"Just position yourself like this. Put your farther apart and have your body locked, not loose like you had it." Static explained.
Skate did what he said and fired again. This time she hit the target closer to the middle.
"Yes! I finally got it!" Skate said in triumph.
"Nice job! Now do it until you get really close to the middle," Static said.
They practiced for about another half hour or so, and stopped when Jet called to them from the house.
"Hey guys? We are gonna see if there are any Draculoids out. Wanna come?" Jet asked.
"Sure Jet! We'll be right there!" Static called back.
"So what are we gonna do? And what are Draculoids?" Skate asked.
"Draculoids, Dracs for short, are people who want to kill us Killjoys. We have been trying to keep them from finding us here, and so far there haven't been any around. BL/Ind., the place they work for, is about an hour drive from here, so it's not likely that they would be close. We go out every once in awhile and make sure that there aren't any Dracs, and if there are, we kill them," Static explained. "Or at least try to....."
"Okay. Sounds cool. I'm coming with you guys."
"Awesome."
Static and Skate headed inside.
All the guys were getting there gear ready. Guns loaded, sunglasses and bandanas on.
"So, Skate, get your gun loaded and get your bandana on. You should get your sunglasses on, too," Party said.
"Alright," Skate replied. She put on her bandana and sunglasses. She figured out how to load her gun and did just that.
"You guys ready?" Party asked.
"Yeah," everyone said in usion.
They all went out to the front of the house. There were two cars; one with a spider on the hood and the other with the same symbol on Skate's jacket that she still didn't recognize.
"I've been wondering what that symbol means for the whole day. What is it?" Skate asked.
"It's the sign for the Killjoys," Kobra explained.
"Oh. Well that makes sense."
"Yeah. I don't think the Dracs know what it is. So three people to a car, okay?"
"Alright."
Party, Jet, and Imploder got in the car with the spider, while Static, Kobra, and Skate got in the one with the Killjoy symbol.
Party drove off first, and Kobra second.
The road looked deserted. They drove on for about twenty minutes, and saw a black car and two black motorcyles coming straight at them.
"What the hell are those?" Skate asked, pointing at the figures on the motorcycles.
"Those are the Dracs," Kobra said.
"Shit."
"Get your gun out and be ready to shoot."
Skate got her gun ready and saw one of the Draculoids raise their gun. She raised her own at it and fired. She hit the Dracs shoulder. "Dammit! I missed its face!" Skate exclaimed. Up ahead, she saw Imploder and Jet take their guns out and shoot at the Dracs. Imploder aimed at the driver of the car and missed.
"Shit!" Skate heard Imploder yell. The Dracs passed them, and Party stopped his car. Kobra did the same, and everyone got out. The Dracs did the same. All the Killjoys held up their guns and started firing.
Kobra got one of the Dracs on the motorcycles, and Skate got the other one. Party, Jet, Imploder, and Static got the ones that were in the car.
After all the Dracs were dead, the Killjoys got back into the cars and drove back to the house. When they got back, they had what you could call dinner and went bacl to the room where Skate first met everyone. Party turned on the radio on the table, and some crackling came from it. Then there was a man's voic that sounded.
".......and to all you Killjoys out there, keep your gun close and die with your mask on if you have to. This is Dr. Death Defying signing off." The radio crackled again, then there was silence.
"Dammit, we missed it," Static said.
"Missed what?" SKate asked.
"Every night around this time and in the mornings, Dr. Death Defying, the guy who was just on the radio, gives all us Killjoys an update about BL/Ind. and everyone else out there. That's what we had just finished listening to when Party brought you in and introduced you."
"Cool."
"Okay guys. Get some rest. We've had a long day, and you don't want to be tired if we have another one like this tomorow," Party told everyone.
"G'night guys," Jet said. He walked off to where he slept.
"'Night," Kobra said, and left.
"G'night guys," Imploder said. He walked off.
"'Night. It was fun today, Skate," Static said.
"Yeah, it was," Skate said.
"G'night guys."
"G'night Static."
He walked to his room.
"Nice to know that you're gonna be here for awhile, Skate," Party said.
"Yeah. Well I have nowhere else to go, so I'm gonna hog your house," Skate said with a smile.
Party smiled back. "G'night Skate."
"'Night Party." She started to walk off.
"Oh, and Skate? Just take one of the vacant rooms down the hall, okay?"
"Okay. Thanks Party."
"No problem."
Skate walked down the hall and found an empty room. She laid down on the bed and closed her eyes.
I think I can trust these guys, was her last thought before she drifted off to sleep.
