Most Epic
Killjoys

By Desert Demon

Prologue

She heard the explosion before she felt it.

* * * *

All around the world in the year 2019, nuclear explosions set around the planet were killing people. There were only about one hundred people who survived. Half of them were good, half evil.
The good half, the Killjoys, were the resistance of humans on Earth. The bad half, the Draculoids, were people in masks who tried to kill the Killjoys. They are all trying to survive on Earth, alone.
This is the story of the Killjoys.

Chapter 1

Desert Demon woke up with a start. All she remembered was a big explosion and being thrown to the ground.
She looked around, and saw that she was in some kind of a motel room. Half the room was in a big mess, and most of the things were either burned or torn.
She got up and looked around.
“Hello?” she shouted. “Hello?”
“You’re finally awake.” Demon jumped, startled, and found a man about twenty-five years old leaning against the wall. He had bright red hair, and a blue jacket with some red, black, and white on it as well. He wore jeans, and had a gun holster on his leg, with a gun in it. But it wasn’t just a regular pistol. It was a ray gun, and it looked deadly. He started walking toward her. “I’m Party Poison,” he said, and held out his hand.
Demon was very hesitant as she shook his hand.
“I’m Desert Demon. Where are we exactly?” she asked.
“We’re in California, Demon. I know you’re probably a little confused right now, but it will all come back to you soon.”
“Um… okay. All I remember was an explosion…” she said, dazed.
“That’s what we all first remember.”
“So are we the only ones… alive?”
“Nope. There are other people around, and we’ll fill you in on everything later.”
“Alright. Wait, we?”
“Yeah. There are some other guys with us. I’ll introduce you to them, then we can get you into your gear.”
“Gear?”
“Yeah. I’ll explain later. Let’s go see the other guys.”
Party led Demon through the house and into another room.
“So am I the only teen?” Demon asked.
“Yeah. But we’ll see if we can find some other teenagers for you to hang with,” Party said with a smile. "You're probably gonna get tired of us."
“It’s okay. I had a brother and a little sister.”
“Well you’ll know how annoying we are then.”
Demon smiled back. “I bet you guys aren’t that annoying.”
“Well…”
They walked into a room with a couch, several chairs, a table, and an old beat-up radio. Three men occupied the couch and chairs.
“Guys, I want you to meet Desert Demon,” Party said to them.
“Hi,” Demon said.
“Hey, we thought you would never wake up,” said the man occupying the nearest chair. He had dark brown hair, down to about mid-neck, hazel eyes, and a warm smile. “I’m Fun Ghoul.”
“Nice to meet you.”
“You, too.”
One of the men on the couch stood up. He had blonde hair, chocolate brown eyes, and a shy half-smile. “I’m Kobra Kid.”
“Nice to meet you.”
“Nice to meet you, too.”
The other man on the couch stood up, walked over to Demon, and held out his hand. He, too, had chocolate brown eyes and a warm smile. He had dark brown hair, down to about his shoulders, which was very curly and a bit frizzy. “I’m Jet Star.”
Demon shook his hand. “Nice to meet you.”
“You, too.”
“And you already know me, so there’s no need to introduce myself,” Party said.
“So, by any chance, are you and Kobra Kid related?”
“Yeah, we actually are. How did you know?”
“I didn’t. I just guessed because there’s a resemblance between the two of you.”
“Nobody has ever noticed that before, even if they knew we were brothers.”
“Well I guess I’m just good at seeing resemblances between people.”
Party and Kobra smiled. Demon heard footsteps by the door, and a guy about her age entered the room.
“So you’ve awakened from the dead,” he said, chuckling. “I’m Revolution Static.” He held out his hand.
Demon shook it. “I’m Desert Demon. Nice to meet you.”
“Nice to meet you, too.”
“Okay. Now that we have all been introduced, I think one of us should take her to get her gear,” Party said.
“I’ll do it,” Kobra said. He started walking across the room. “Follow me, Demon.”

Kobra took Demon through the house and into a room stocked with racks of jackets, shirts, and jeans. Boots, bandanas, and other items were on a table in the corner.
“So this is where you are gonna get all your gear, like jackets, bandanas, all that stuff. So just pick out a pair of jeans, a jacket, and some boots that fit you. Come out when you’re done,” Kobra told Demon.
“Okay. What about the bandanas and stuff?” Demon asked.
“Oh, yeah. Pick out one of each item on that table, too.”
“Alright! Thanks, Kobra.”
“No problem.”
Kobra left the room and closed the door. Demon looked at the jackets and tried one on.
The jacket was red, black, blue, and green, with black lining on the inside. The main color was blue, and there were red stripes running down the arms. There was a black 07 on the front, and on one of the chest pockets, there was a green symbol that looked somewhat like a percent sign. On the back, there was another green 07, and a black spider. The red stripes were running down the arms, like on the front. Luckily, the jacket fit perfectly. She got some jeans and boots, which were all the same, but had different sizes.
Demon picked up a bandana from the table. It was green, with a silver upside-down triangle and a red “X” over it.
There were some sunglasses on the table, and she picked up a pair that she liked. They were just plain black Ray-bans.
Demon walked out of the room with all her gear on, the sunglasses on her head and the bandana around her neck.
Kobra was waiting outside.
“Good choices,” was all he said. “Come on. This is the fun part.”
“And what is that?” Demon asked.
“You get to pick your ray gun.”
Kobra led Demon to yet another room. There was a table in the middle with some tools. Probably for making the guns, Demon suspected.
On the walls, shelf after shelf was lined with ray guns. Demon walked up to one of the shelves and picked up a ray gun. It felt like it was made for her hands. It was the same colors as her jacket; red, black, blue, and green with some purple thrown in. It had red and silver swirls with green as the base color. There were purple and white stripes on the barrel as well.
Demon showed the gun to Kobra.
“Is this one okay?” she asked.
“Perfect,” Kobra replied.
Demon and Kobra walked back to the room that everyone else was in.
“How is it?” Demon asked.
“Well, if you want it honestly, you look like you’re ready to kill some fucking Draculoids,” Fun Ghoul said.
