Important Question to anyone who's been to a concert!!!!

So...I'm hoping to go to some concerts like really soon if the bands go on tour with new albums coming out. And I wanted to know some people's perspectives.

If any of you have ever been in the like 'the pit' in front of the stage with the whole mob of people, how was it?

Was the show still enjoyable? Did you get pushed around a lot to the point of pain? Could you see? If you could go to another concert, would you go to the pit again or get a seat on the side away from the squished bodies? Basically, can you still enjoy the show or are you too busy trying not to get knocked over and trampled?

I'm curious because I want to experience being down in the front (meaning pit area) but considering how short I am, and how determined other people are I probably wouldn't end up at the very front where no one would block my view. Is it worth being in the middle?

p.s. one of the concerts can very well end up being a Green Day concert and those I am 100% positive can get out of hand.
