I know everybody has their thoughts towards fangirls but yesterday I came across something that just set me off.
I don't know how many people here watched the Grammys yesterday, and if you don't know what that is, it's the Music Awards.
I watched it because 1.) I love music and I knew it would have great performances and feature amazing bands. 2.) Fun. was performing and were nominated for 6 awards.
So throughout the night, Fun. won 2 of their 6 categories, Best Song, and Best New Artist.
What does winning mean? It means someone takes the prize and that someone has to lose. Not that losing makes them any less of a great musician.
So in the Best Song category, Fun. was up against Ed Sheeran for his hit song "The A-Team" and he lost.
After the Grammys I went on Tumblr just to browse some pictures when I came across a blog on a picture thread. Now I can't find the blog but basically it was a girl freaking out about how much she absolutely HATED Fun. for winning because it meant that Ed Sheeran didn't get his grammy. I understand thinking one band's better than another and possibly getting angry because you think one band has shitty music and the other is awesome. I get where that anger comes from, but what I don't get is how this girl went from complaining about Fun's music to accusing them of offending girls everywhere because they have a period in their name....
Let that sink in for a moment. Fun. offends girls everywhere because there is a period in their name which means they're making fun of girls for having their period.
Please tell me this girl is not normal. I swear it is one of the craziest excuses I've ever heard! Then in the end she said something along the lines of "I hope every member of Fun. dies by choking on their own saliva." What the hell is wrong with this girl?! Seriously!! IT WAS AN AWARD!!!
My thoughts were along the line of why get angry? I am only just hearing about Ed Sheeran and his song "The A-Team" is like the first hit I've heard from him. He's obviously a new artist which means that he has quite a future ahead of him to create more hits and have even more chances to win countless awards. I bet this was his first grammy show! How often do musicians win their FIRST nomination ever?
Later someone told the girl to chill out, she later posted that she was calming down a little and that she was now crying.
Please tell what kind of fans are like this? Who cries when an artist doesn't win an award? Fun. was nominated for 6 categories. They only won 2 which means they lost 4. Did I get pissed at the people who won those 4? Absolutely not, because there's more musicians in the world than the one you like which means that there are artists out there who are just as good. You don't get mad at the other musicians, you RESPECT them.
I can't stand this freaking fangirls that obsess enough over a certain musician/band to the point where they have boiling anger towards every other band out there. I saw a different post that said "If Ed Sheeran doesn't win a grammy I will literally stab my eyes out."
And with that last line, I will leave you here to think about the truly crazy fans that live in this world.
