For some of you who don't remember or who did not see my blog, on Monday or Tuesday, I wrote a blog asking for you guys to pray, or send your good thoughts, for my fiance's friend, who they thought had spinal meningitis.
Well, let's just say, things are getting better =)
They found out that it was not spinal meningitis. It is this rare condition called Gilliam Barre Syndrome. Basically, if you get a cold or flu, your immune system becomes retarded and attacks not the cold or flu, but your nerve system. Which makes sense, because he couldn't move his whole body. In some cases, it's potentially fatal, but very rare.
So anyways, the found it out and did a painful spinal tap, etc. and he is now in recovery! He'll be in the hospital for another 4 days and after that, he'll be doing physical therapy to regain the strength in his legs and muscles (which may take anywhere from 1 week to a month or so).
They actually told him if he would have waited a couple more days to go to the hospital, he would have had permanent paralysis. So it's amazing how things work.
Anyways, the point is, I just want to thank you guys so much for praying and sending your good thoughts this way!! It's amazing that he's able to recover and is not going to be paralyzed or die.
