Guitar players assistance needed!

So dudes, I posted a blog yesterday about me wanting to teach myself how to play electric guitar and asking for help. Thanks to the killjoys who helped, I kind of forgot to mention I have never even played one note on an electric guitar before. So if anyone has any tips on where to get started, should I teach myself some things first or just attempt to play a song? Thanks for any replies I get!!! :) And are there any songs you found easy to play, MCR, Muse, Fall Out Boy, stuff like that? :)
