Total Desolation Part 48

“Come on.” Aagneya said as he stood up on the rickety tree branch. I stood up next to him, not knowing exactly how we would be descending now, perhaps we would float down, that could be fun, but maybe there was another amusing way to go back down?
I didn’t get time to think about what other amazing ways we could descend because as soon as I stood up Aagneya grabbed my hand and jumped off the tree branch, pulling me down with him. I tried to reach out and grab at the tree branch to stop our decent, maybe he hadn’t jumped off, perhaps he had lost his footing. My hand slammed against the branch and pain flared up my arm.
We fell quickly, slamming against branches as we went. I lost my connection with Aagneya as a stray branch slammed between us causing us to let go of one another. It hit me on my elbow, causing a sickening cracking from my arm as my arm bent in ways it never should have, I screamed, it was all I could do, the pain was unbearable and I continued to fall, now disconnected from Aagneya, disconnected from the world, nothing mattered at that moment except the pain.
I continued to scream as I fell, my lungs burning and my body convulsing in agonized pain. I briefly saw Aagneya next to me but he didn’t seem to realize we were even falling, he seemed to be more watching me than anything, his face distorted in worry, a look I had never seen from him before, it worried me.
Suddenly the world seemed to slow down. I could make out the tree branches around me and I realized that I had once again started floating, it surprised me, I hadn’t even thought of that, I was too busy worrying about my demolished arm and Aagneya’s worrying look.
That’s when I looked up to the sky and realized that I hadn’t caused it, Aagneya had, he was floating several feet above me and making his way down to me. Again the realization that my arm was busted came back to me and I convulsed in pain. Aagneya’s face grimaced a little seeing me in pain and I dropped about a foot in the air again, slamming my back against another tree branch before Aagneya regained control again, he was battling to keep us both up and the pain was too much for me to keep myself floating.
Next thing I knew Aagneya was beside me, leaning me again the trunk of the tree branch I had just slammed into as he sat beside me.
“How bad is it?” He asked me, tentatively touching my arm.
I screamed out in pain at his touch, the slightest movement or feeling caused so much pain, it was unbearable.
“HOW BAD IS IT!?” I screamed at him, causing more pain as my arm was hit against my chest. “MY ARM ISN’T SUPPOSED TO BEND THAT WAY!”
“Calm down.” Aagneya said calmly, restraining from yelling back at me.
“How can I calm down when I’ll probably lose my arm!?”
“Shhhh. It’ll be okay.”
I looked at him, I could tell my eyes were burning in hot anger, my face contorted in hatred, at that moment the only thing I wanted was Aagneya dead. In the next moment I found tears streaking down my face, I hated this, I hated it all, I hated Aagneya, I hated being dead, I hated having to do all this, I just hated everything.
Aagneya put his hand on my shoulder to calm me down but all’s that did was anger me further. And then I realized what he was doing. Fire consumed my arm, crackling at my skin, and burning away the hair. But the fire felt good, it was healing me, I would never have thought fire could heal but at that moment it did and it was the most comforting feeling in the world. Fire, my favorite element, the one that had always spoken to me, was healing me, saving myself from certain doom.
I smiled as I began flexing my arm, it still hurt, a lot, but it was much better and it didn’t bend in ways it never should have. Aagneya removed his hand from my shoulder and the fire extinguished itself, leaving a tingly feeling in its wake.
“I told you it would be okay.” Aagneya whispered soothingly next to me and I smiled. At that moment I realized that I too had fallen for him, it wasn’t just that he had fallen for me but that I had fallen for him too. Raven meant nothing to me anymore, I just wanted to be with Aagneya. I smiled again, staring into his eyes and he smiled back and pulled me into a kiss.
Out of nowhere there was a screech and then the large black raven from earlier swept down and scratched at my face again, I swatted at it and it disappeared once again.
I looked at Aagneya, “You saw that too right?”
He looked at me with a look of confusion and concern. “Saw what?”
“Fuck.” I threw myself from the tree branch to another, leaping my way down to the ground, I was going to do this the old fashioned way.

And there's part 48!
